Without further ado, let me congratulate Phillip Patriakeas (@Dinoguy1000) for winning the inaugural Shady Characters contest! Phillip’s name was picked at random from the set of all commenters on the original competition post, plus all those who replied to, retweeted, or marked as favourite the tweet announcing the contest.* Phillip’s copy of Hiatus № 1 will be winging its way to him very soon.
Thank you all for entering (commiserations to those who did not win, and better luck next time!) and stay tuned for more competitions in the future. Without wanting to blow my own trumpet, I think the prize for the next one is rather special: one lucky winner will receive a copy of the Shady Characters bound proofs, typos and all. More details to come.
Thanks again for taking part, and it’s back to business as usual next week!

- In more detail: I arranged all names in a text file, then asked random.org to pick a number between 1 and the total number of lines in that file. Phillip, who had marked the contest tweet as a favourite, was named on the winning line. ↢

Congratulations to Phillip Patriakeas! And to Keith Houston for the idea – to say nothing of his writing this great blog.
